230103 Seneca, Epistulae morales und Consolationes (S) (SoSe 2024)

Seneca stellt in den Briefen an Lucilius die Philosophie der Stoa Schritt für Schritt in didaktischer Reduktion dar. Jeder Brief entspricht einer kleinen Einheit und enthält ein Haupt- und ein Nebenthema. Beginnend mit kurzen Briefen über lebensweltliche Themen wie Zeit, Freundschaft, Alter etc. wenden sich die späteren Briefe komplexeren Fragestellungen zu.

Im Seminar werden wir die Briefe zunächst bis Ep. 6 komplett lesen, danach weitere Briefe in Auswahl. Im zweiten Teil werden wir Auszüge aus den Konsolationsschriften lesen.

Idealerweise BM 1-3, in jedem Fall aber BM 1.
