This course is designed to develop graduate-level academic (writing) skills, with a focus on research, writing, and understanding conventions of writing in British and American Studies. Throughout the seminar, we will look at a variety of writing strategies commonly used in the field of British and American Studies. In addition to exploring ways of finding secondary sources and analysing different genres and styles, students will complete writing tasks on a regular basis. We will focus on the importance of structure, academic vocabulary, and development of cohesion, among others. This course not only helps students to become more confident with academic writing, but also offers an overview of different academic conventions in our field.
