Ab dem 13. Jahrhundert kommen in Europa vermehrt Gerätschaften auf, die den Blick lenken, brechen, und amplifizieren. Das Seminar möchte sich dieser "Bewaffnung des Auges mit Brille, Linsen, Fernrohren und Mikroskopen" (Friedrich Kittler) widmen. Wie beeinflussen diese neuen Medien die Wissenschaft, Kunst und im Allgemeinen die visuelle Kultur der Vormoderne?
Die Bereitschaft zur genauen Lektüre von deutsch- und englischsprachigen Texten wird vorausgesetzt.
Achtung: Das Seminar wird erst im Mai beginnen, der erste Termin ist der 3.5.
