Format: hybrid synchron.
Bei dieser Übung handelt es sich um einen "klassischen" Lektürekurs. Ziel ist es, die Studierenden des ersten/zweiten Semesters in die kontinuierliche Lektüre lateinischer Prosa-Autoren einzuführen. Gegenstand sind folgende zwei Reden(corpora) Ciceros:
- In Verrem 2,4 (= Vierte Rede des zweiten Buches/der Actio secunda),
- Pro Sexto Roscio Amerino.
außerdem folgendes Bücher aus den Dialogen De re publica und De officiis:
- De re publica 1,
- De officiis 1.
Sinnvoll ist es, sich diese Reden (und die philosophische Schrift) in einer zweisprachigen Ausgabe zuzulegen (z.B. Reclam, Artemis/Winkler). Siehe hierzu die Lektüreempfehlungen unten!

Diese Übung wendet sich an Studierende des ersten Studienjahres und zielt darauf, die Übersetzungskompetenz der Teilnehmer*innen im Bereich lateinischer Prosatexte zu stärken.

Die Anschaffung folgender drei Reclam-Bände wird empfohlen (alternativ auch gerne andere zweisprachige Ausgaben):
- In Verrem (Reclam): Cicero, Reden gegen Verres V: Lat./Dt., ed. Gerhard Krüger, Ditzingen 1993. [Achtung, vergriffen. Ist aber online gebraucht gut zu bekommen.]
- In Catilinam (Reclam): Cicero, In L. Catilinam orationes / Vier Reden gegen Catilina: Lat./Dt., Ditzingen 2016.
- Pro Milone (Reclam): Cicero, Pro Milone / Rede für T. Annius Milo: Lat./Dt., Ditzingen 1986.
- De re publica (Reclam): Cicero, De re publica / Vom Staat: Lat./Dt., ed. Michael von Albrecht, Ditzingen 2013.
Zudem sollte eine Cicero-Biographie angeschafft werden. Ich empfehle Wilfried Stroh, Cicero. Redner, Staatsmann, Philosoph, München: Beck 2008.

Die kontinuierliche Teilnahme sowie eine regelmäßige Vor- und Nachbereitung der Veranstaltung werden erwartet.
Die Übung wird mit einer Klausur (lat.-dt. Übersetzung) abgeschlossen. Der Text der Abschlussklausur entstammt einem der unten aufgeführten vier Bücher Ciceros (s.u.).
