300290 Facing the Facts: Doing Research on a Distance (MC: Soziologische Methoden - qualitativ) (S) (WiSe 2020/2021)

Contents, comment

The corona virus pandemic causes very great difficulties for almost everyone who researches with qualitative methods. Fields are inaccessible because borders have been closed. Some fields have more or less dissolved. The alternative of doing research remotely is proving problematic - the strength of most qualitative methods lies in the proximity of researchers and their fields. But what does it mean methodically and practically if the researcher has to go at a distance?

In this method class we discuss the methodical and methodological problems of your research projects.

The seminar will be offered in the German or English language (according to the language skills of the participants).

We will hold a preliminary meeting in the first week of the semester. The seminar takes place as a block seminar with three half-day meetings.

The seminar takes place as a distance learning format. It combines synchronous (video conference) and asynchronous (self-study) elements. The synchronous meetings take place at the designated course times.
