Die Übung soll der Vorbereitung auf die obligatorische Bibelkundeprüfung dienen und einen inhaltlichen Überblick über das gesamte AT vermitteln.
Allerdings kann sie niemandem das Lernen abnehmen und eine Teilnahme hat deshalb nur - oder jedenfalls sehr viel mehr - Sinn, wenn Zeit und Bereitschaft zur intensiven (Mit-)Arbeit vorhanden ist - d.h. im Laufe des Semesters das gesamte AT selbständig zu lesen und jeweils zu gliedern bzw. zu strukturieren.Dazu kann eine sogenannte Bibelkunde Hilfe geben, da aber die Gefahr besteht, am Ende statt der Bibel diese Bibelkunde im Kopf zu haben, wird eine solche nicht zugrundegelegt und auf eigener Arbeit aufgebaut, wozu Hilfestellung und Überprüfungsmöglichkeiten geboten werden.
