Thema des Seminars sind "Muslimische Kindheiten und Jugend". In diesem Zusammenhang werden wir historische und aktuelle, wissenschaftliche, literarische und autobiografische Texte lesen. Dabei werden zum Beispiel die autobiografischen Erinnerungen des ägyptischen Muslimbruders Sayyid Qutb (1912-1921) und die "Die Reise des Ibn Fattuma" des ägyptischen Autors und Nobelpreisträgers Nagib Machfus (2004) parallel zu theoretischen Texten zur Kindheit und Jugend gelesen. Es ist die Fragestellung des Seminars, welche unterschiedlichen Konstruktionen von Kindheit und Jugend aufgezeigt und diskutiert werden können.Gibt es Gemeinsamkeiten zwischen den "typisch jugendlichen" Konflikten der Frankfurter "Turkish Power Boys" (Tertilt 1996) und der islamischen Jugendorganisation "Jeunes Musulmans de France" (Peter 2004)? Ziel des Seminars ist es, einen Überblick über die Bandbreite von "Muslimischen Kindheiten und Jugend" zu geben und diese in theoretischen Modellen zu verorten.
