Dieses Seminar stellt eine Einführung in die Bedeutung und Forschung des deutschen Sozialstaats da. Zunächst beschäftigen wir uns mit der Definition der sozialen Sicherung. Im Anschluss daran mit der historischen Entwicklung des deutschen Sozialstaates. Im weiteren Fokus stehen dann verschiedene sozialpolitische Felder wie das Renten- und Gesundheitssystem sowie Arbeitsmarkt- und Migrationspolitik.
Zudem schauen wir uns aktuelle Problematiken an, unter anderem welche sozialpolitischen Maßnahmen im Zuge der Corona-Krise ergriffen wurden. Zum Abschluss des Seminars widmen wir uns dann Methoden der Sozialpolitikforschung.
