Der Schwingungs- und Wellenbegriff ist eine der wichtigsten Strukturen, der alle Gebiete der Physik durchzieht. Neben mechanischen Oszillationen werden akustische, elektromagnetische Wellen bis hin zu Materialwellen der Atomphysik behandelt. In einem Kapitel über nichtlineare Schwingungen wird der Toda Oszillator als ein Beispiel eines chaotischen Systems experimentell und theoretisch behandelt. Im Seminar können experimentelle Erfahrungen gesammelt werden, die auch modernste Experimentiertechniken der Schulphysik umfassen.
