In dieser Veranstaltung werden wir uns dem systematischen Vergleich unterschiedlicher politischer Systeme widmen. Hierzu soll zunächst in die Methode des politikwissenschaftlichen Vergleichs eingeführt werden, um dann unterschiedliche demokratische Systeme sowie autokratische Systeme besonders im Hinblick auf ihre Leistungsfähigkeit und ihre Policy-Ergebnisse zu vergleichen. Des Weiteren sollen empirische Befunde und theoretische Ansätze zu Demokratisierung und Entdemokratisierung an ausgesuchten Fällen kennengelernt und besprochen werden.
In der ersten Hälfte des Semesters werden die fachlichen Grundlagen vermittelt und in der zweiten Hälfte werden durch Gruppenreferate aussagekräftige Fälle durch die Studierenden präsentiert (Studienleistung).
Als Prüfungsleistung ist die Anfertigung einer Hausarbeit erforderlich.
