Die Veranstaltung kombiniert einführende Vorlesungen mit Seminarbeiträgen der Studierenden und deren spezifische und breite Diskussion. Wöchentlich werden Themen bearbeitet: Anträge auf Forschungsförderung, Dual Use-Problematik, Ethik wissenschaftlichen Handelns, Experimental Design Principles, Gentechnik (GenTG) und Freisetzung, Good laboratory practice, Good manufacturing practice, Nagoya Protocol/Digital Sequence Information (DSI), Publizieren (Plagiarismus; Original-Daten), Öffentlichkeitsarbeit/Outreach, Stammzellen und Keimbahn (Embryonenschutzgesetz ESchG), Umweltschutz und Nachhaltigkeit, Verfassen von Abschlussarbeiten und Publikationen, Wissenschaftliche Bildbearbeitung sowie Unternehmensplanung. Die Breite der Themen vermittelt den Studierenden einen weitgefassten Einblick in Zusammenhänge, Verantwortung und Möglichkeiten wissenschaftlichen Handelns. Jede/r Teilnehmer*in bereitet ein Thema vor und präsentiert es in einem Vortrag.
