This course will cover pretty much the same terrain and topics that most other sociologists would try to cover when teaching sociological theory. It will cover basic concepts and topics like action, communication, norms, roles, deviance, institutions, conflict and social differentiation and then will go through some of the main approaches or theoretical paradigms of our discipline, in particular exchange theory and the rational choice perspective, systems theory, field and praxis theory and discourse analysis and also touch on some of the more technically advanced methods relating to these issues most notably game theory, network analysis and conversation analysis.
you need to be curious about matters of substance, i.e. social life, and sufficiently stubborn, when it comes to defending concepts and definitions

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
You can aim for a Studienleistung by giving a presentation in class and you can go for the Prüfungsleistung by either giving a presentation in class and writing a short paper in addition to that presentation, but on the same topic or by writing a longer term paper.
