Die Einführung in die Internationalen Beziehungen organisiert sich in zwei aufeinander aufbauenden Semesterveranstaltungen. Der erste Teil (Übung I/WiSe) befasst sich mit den zentralen Begrifflichkeiten, Theorien und Akteuren der Internationalen Beziehungen und der internationalen Politik und exemplifiziert diese anhand der Erstellung zweier Eingangsstatements der UN-Generalversammlung und des UN-Sicherheitsrates. In einem zweiten Teil (Übung II/SoSe) werden neuere Theorieentwicklungen sowie politischen Prozesse und Strukturen der internationalen Politik im Vordergrund stehen. Anhand ausgewählter Themenfelder - wie etwa Sicherheitspolitik, Klimapolitik oder technologischer Wandel - werden die Prozesse und Strukturen vertiefend besprochen.
