This course focuses on philosophical questions related to well-being, that is, to that which is non-instrumentally good for people or to that which makes people's lives go well. The topics that this course covers include but are not limited to the concept of well-being, an overview of prominent families of theories of well-being, such as hedonism, desire-satisfaction theories, and objective list theories, connections between well-being and morality, and whether and how we can measure well-being for policy purposes.
