270933 The Cinderella of Psychology: Neuro-cognitive aspects of sensorimotor control (S) (SoSe 2017)

The phrase "Cinderella of Psychology" has been coined to reflect the fact that the study of sensorimotor control processes have long been neglected in the science of mental life and behavior, partly because neuroscientest had the market concerned (Rosenbaum, 2005). However, with the emergence of cognitive neuroscience, the division between neuroscience and psychology is blurring and neuroscientists are becoming more interested in the insights that psychologists can provide and vice versa.
In this seminar, classic and current research papers that focus on the neural and cognitive substrates of sensorimotor processes will be presented and discussed which support the notion that movement provides a nice tool to study cognition. Papers will encompass work from Neuropsychology, animal studies, and cognitive neuroscience.
The seminar will be held in English or German, depending on participants' preferences.
