This course is aimed to developing an understanding of how phonetic parameters are perceived by human listeners. We will discuss the physiology of human speech perception and the units of perceptual analysis for segment & syllable duration, pitch, intensity, as well as the interaction between these units.
Good understanding of the basic tenets of phonetics and phonology.
The relevant literature will be provided in the course outline in the first meeting for the course.
