Bestätigungstheorien stellen systematische wissenschaftstheoretische Modelle der empirischen Prüfung und Bestätigung von Theorien bereit. Im Einzelnen geht es dabei um die Kriterien für die Beurteilung der Stützung von Hypothesen oder Theorien im Lichte gegebener Daten. Behandelt werden die gegenwärtig führenden bestätigungstheoretischen Konzeptionen.
Im Einzelnen geht es um die Struktur hypothetisch-deduktiver Prüfung, das Erfüllungsmodell der Bestätigung (insbesondere Glymours Bootstrap-Modell), induktive Logik und Bayesianismus so-wie um Mayos Irrtumsstatistik.
