„Die Kategorie Geschlecht hat weder historisch noch gegenwärtig betrachtet an Identitätskraft und -zwang verloren. Umso mehr muss zeitgeschichtliche Forschung bereit sein, die geschlechterhistorische Perspektive als notwendige Erweiterung anzuwenden, um die Vorgeschichte zur Gegenwart in allen Facetten analysieren zu können“, fordern die Historikerinnen Kristen Heinsohn und Claudia Kemper. Das Seminar „Männlich, weiblich, divers. Geschlecht in der Zeitgeschichte“ nimmt deshalb die Geschlechterordnung in Deutschland seit 1945 in den Blick. Die Sitzungen setzen sich zum einen intensiv mit den sozialen Konstruktionen von Geschlecht auseinander und analysieren die historischen Entwicklungen und Veränderungen dieser Konzepte. Dabei werden traditionelle Vorstellungen von Männlichkeit und Weiblichkeit ebenso kritisch hinterfragt wie binäre Geschlechternormen. Zum anderen bilden Sexualitätsgeschichte und queere Geschichte einen thematischen Schwerpunkt des Seminars.
