Since the late 1990s, regulation has been driven by demands of the new public management (NPM) to developed strategies and goals ensuring efficiency, but also stakeholder involvement, rational prioritisation and the provision of a high level of precaution. Many of these often contradicting goals and strategies are bundled under the heading of better regulation.
This seminar provides an overview over the current regulatory debate in Europe and focuses on regulatory innovations, in particular risk management, and strategies to set up regulatory agencies.
