The course will introduce students to Intersectionality Theory (Crenshaw, 1989) to understand how students with disabilities and their families experienced marketized forms of education delivery. The students in the course will read and analyze foundational readings from intersectionality theory such as Kimberly Crenshaw, Patricia Hill Collings, and Audrey Lord, as well as new theories and research that have developed out of intersectionality theory such as Disability Critical Race Theory (DisCrit). The students will also apply their understanding of intersectionality to understand how students with disabilities and their families experience market-driven educational reforms.
Please note that Federico Waitoller’s stay at Bielefeld University is mainly financed by the International Guest Lecturer Program and also in parts by the Faculty of Educational Science.
