Die Wissenschaftstheorie der Kognitions- und Neurowissenschaften (KNW) ist ein immer noch unterrepräsentiertes Gebiet mit Wachstumspotential. Zu den wichtigen Fragestellungen dieses Gebiets zählen neben schon bekannteren Themen wie Physikalismus, Reduktionismus, Multirealisierbarkeit oder intentionalem Realismus auch spezifischere Fragen wie etwa: Welche spezifischen Arten von Erklärungen gibt es in den KNW? Welche Erklärungsleistung wird ihnen jeweils zugesprochen? Welche Merkmale reifer Theoriebildung gibt es in KNW? Wie ist das Verhältnis von Theorie und Experiment? Von der Behandlung derartiger Fragen können sowohl die KNW als auch die bislang vornehmlich an der Physik als paradigmatischer Wissenschaft orientierte traditionelle Wissenschaftstheorie profitieren.
Grundlage für die Vergabe von Leistungspunkten (im BA-, MA of Education- und HPSS-Studiengang) sind Referate und Essays.
Im Masterstudiengang erfolgt der Erwerb von Leistungspunkten ausschließlich auf Modulebene.

Diese Veranstaltung richtet sich in erster Linie an Masterstudierende im Fach Philosophie. BA-Studierende der Philosophie oder andere Studierende können nach persönlicher und rechtzeitiger Rücksprache mit dem Veranstalter zugelassen werden. Im Bedarfsfall kann die Veranstaltung (mit 3 LP) für ein BA-Hauptmodul angerechnet werden.
