Friedrich Wilhelm Grafs Buch erregt seit seinem Erscheinen Aufsehen. Das Seminar fragt nach Ursachen dafür. Liegt es an der polemischen, offensiven Schreibweise? an den angesprochenen heiklen Themen? an der vom Autor geübten (protestantischen Selbst)Kritik? Da der Text durch die Urteile von Massenmedien und Kirchentag, von Podium und Nachrede längst verdeckt wird, soll er im Seminar behandelt werden. Der Wert des Buchs und ähnlicher Bücher könnte sich darin erweisen, dass sie gerade aufgrund ihrer Schreibweise Anstöße zum Denken, Diskutieren und Handeln geben. Es geht im Seminar also auch um die Frage, wie Protestanten in der Öffentlichkeit auftreten können und sollen – will sagen: es geht um alle, die Theologieberufe anstreben oder innehaben.
