This course provides an introduction to key authors, genres, periods, concepts, methods, and fields of research in US American literary and cultural studies. Particular emphasis is given to the analysis of genres short stories and essays by different authors and in varying literary periods. The course aims at offering students a profound and broad basis for textual analysis and research in future seminars and independent study. Furthermore, the course works well in combination or as a supplement with both "Analyzing and Interpreting Literary" texts and the "Survey in US. American Literature".
