Die Übung macht mit der prophetischen Philosophie von Emmanuel Levinas bekannt.
Emmanuel Levinas kritisiert die Selbstverständlichkeit und Gewaltsamkeit westlichen Identitätsdenkens, das Anderes und Fremdes nicht bestehen lassen kann.
Diesem Denken setzt er die Erfahrung entgegen, dass es gerade der Andere, die Fremde, ihr Gesicht ist, dass die eigene Selbstbehauptung irritiert und durchkreuzt. Im Gesicht dieser Anderen zeigt sich Gott, ohne einfach sichtbar und identifizierbar zu werden.
Der Übung liegt ein 30seitiger Text zugrunde, der im Lauf des Semesters gemeinsam gelesen werden soll. Die Übung gibt also Gelegenheit, einen philosophischen Text genau zu besprechen und zu verstehen.
Voraussetzung: Lust zu sprechen, zu verstehen, zu denken.
