Education as a School Subject (minor subject) at Bielefeld University prepares students specifically for teaching pedagogy at Advanced Secondary and Comprehensive Schools.

The degree programme combines Educational Science fundamentals with practice-oriented teacher training and closely links subject-specific science and subject-specific didactics. Students acquire knowledge of educational, socialisation and social theories as well as qualitative and quantitative research methods, developing a scientific understanding of educational processes in the process. At the same time, they gain insights into lesson design and school requirements.

The degree programme lays the foundation for reflective pedagogical action and opens up individual areas of specialisation. The subsequent Master of Education programme further deepens and expands on the content, taking a practical approach.
