In this module you will acquire the skills, methodological and research methodological knowledge to plan and practically implement your own research work related to school and physical education. You will be able to independently carry out and evaluate quantitative or qualitative research focussed on specific subjects. You will deepen your research methodological skills.
By discussing current research projects with academic co-workers from Department IV, you will not only expand your knowledge of research processes, but also contribute your own ideas and reflections and derive your own problems and hypotheses. You will expand your methodological skills for scientific work by learning to make and justify pragmatic research decisions and to evaluate theory and method with regard to your own empirical research projects such as the study project.
In the "Preparation for the research project Research-based learning with reference to school and teaching" you will be given a practical problem-orientated introduction to standards, methods, methodology and techniques of scientific work in the field of Sports Science teaching research. Qualitative and quantitative methods are covered.
In the "Project seminar on the research project Research-based learning with a school and classroom focus", this content is applied in practice using the example of your own research work in small groups.
In the "Sports Education Research Colloquium" you will actively discuss current topics in the sports education discourse. This will enable you to link the research methodological skills taught in the module to ongoing research projects in situational contexts and to prepare your own research projects, e.g. in the study project or final thesis.

"Preparation for the research project on research-based learning with reference to schools and teaching" is studied in the first semester of the module. This is followed in the second semester by the "Project seminar on the research project research-based learning with a school and teaching reference". The "Sports Education Research Colloquium" can be attended in both semesters.

The coursework serves to practice a reflective and discursive attitude to the topics covered in the course and has a practising and deepening character with regard to the competences anchored in the module. An academic achievement is the completion of an assignment for practice purposes. Such assignments may include: preparing minutes of a meeting, an abstract of a short text, an essay, preparing a contribution to a meeting or a presentation, solving application tasks, moderating a discussion group or similar. The following applies to all contributions: Students may be required to submit written contributions totalling a maximum of 1200 words or oral contributions totalling a maximum of 10-20 minutes in a course |
