Die Veranstaltung versteht sich als angewandtes Seminar zur empirischen Sozialforschung. Es richtet sich an Studierende, die Interesse daran haben, inhaltliche Fragestellungen aus Bereichen Bildung, Erwerbstätigkeit und Sozialstruktur mit realen empirischen Daten zu analysieren. In dem Seminar kommen grundlegende Verfahren der quantitativen Datenanalyse zur Anwendung, die mit Hilfe des Statistikprogramms STATA eingeübt werden sollen. Ausgewählte inhaltliche Fragestellungen sollen auf exemplarische Weise konzeptuell spezifiziert, operationalisiert und auf der Basis des Mikrozensus-„Campus File“ am PC analysiert werden. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit wird der Darstellung und Interpretation der Ergebnisse der empirischen Analysen gewidmet.
