Die Vermittlung der unterrichtspraktischen Kompetenzen erfolgt in Schulpraktika an Gymnasien und Gesamtschulen in allen Jahrgangsstufen, begleitet von Theorieseminaren. In den Übungen/ Seminaren wird anschlussfähiges fachdidaktisches Wissen vermittelt, das fächerübergreifendes Lehren ermöglicht.
In der Fachdidaktik werden die Studierenden vertraut gemacht mit grundlegenden Arbeits- und Erkenntnismethoden der Biologie und verfügen bei Studienabschluss über die basalen Fähigkeiten für gezielte und nach wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnissen gestaltete Vermittlungs-, Lern- und Bildungsprozesse im Fach Biologie.
