Die Veranstaltung soll einerseits vertiefte Kenntnisse des für Examen und Praxis besonders wichtigen Haftungs- und Schadensrechts (Verschuldens- und Gefährdungshaftung) vermitteln. Andererseits soll sie in die Schadensregulierung einführen. Dabei ist nicht nur das Prozessrecht als Kernfach des Schwerpunktbereichs 1 zu berücksichtigen, sondern auch die Tatsache, dass in weitem Umfang Versicherer an der Regulierung beteiligt sind und eine Konfliktbeilegung überwiegend außergerichtlich erfolgt.

Wünschenswert und nützlich sind Vorkenntnisse aus den Schuldrechtlichen Grundkursen (Allgemeiner Teil und Gesetzliche Schuldverhältnisse).
