300209 The relationship between historical sociology and historiography. Semantics and structure (S) (WiSe 2016/2017)

Contents, comment

The reference to historical materials is fundamental both for sociology and for historical studies, but often in quite different ways. The main differences concern the relationship with the sources and the use of theory. During the workshop, these issues will be discussed referring primarily to Niklas Luhmann’s theory of social systems and Reinhart Koselleck’s history of concepts. No previous knowledge of Luhmann's theory is required.
The participants are expected to read the texts indicated in the bibliography and are invited to prepare a short presentation/comment of a text of their choice.
