Die wesentlichen Fragen der Verhaltensbiologie beziehen sich auf die Mechanismen, die die Grundlage des Verhaltens von Mensch und Tier bilden, sowie auf die Funktion von Verhalten. Das Paarungssystem einer Art bestimmt einen wichtigen Teil des Verhaltens und der Auswahl der genetischen Ausstattung der nächsten Generation. Paarungssysteme bestimmen somit auch die Evolution von Arten. In diesem Spezialmodul werden theoretische Probleme zur sexuellen Selektion, Partnerwahl und reproduktiven Erfolg besprochen und Fallstudien im Seminar referiert. Methodisch werden wir Experimente zur Partnerwahl an verschiedenen Tierarten durchführen und vergleichen, im Labor exemplarisch Tests zur Elternschaft durchführen und die Ergebnisse analysieren und interpretieren. Studierende werden in der letzten Woche ihre Projekte in einem Kolloquium vorstellen. Mündliche Prüfung.
