In Wintersemester 2016-2017, I will organize a seminar (with seven ap-pointments) where we view, analyze and discuss the Netflix series ‘Making a Murderer’.
The following themes will be discussed:
• Causes of miscarriages of justice
• Lineup confrontation (eyewitness procedure)
• The use of the media by law enforcement
• Application of juvenile justice
• The Reid interview technique
• Common law versus civil law in criminal cases
• Tunnel vision
• Forensic research (skeletal remains and blood)
• Lie detection
The weekly appointments are on Fridays from 8h00 till 10h30 on the following dates: 4rd, 11th and 18th November 2016, 6th, 20th and 27th January 2017 and 3rd February 2017.
