First Insights into Legal Tech
Everyone is talking about artificial intelligence—and it’s here to stay. It is already changing the way information is searched, texts are created, and decisions are prepared — and it will have a lasting impact on legal work and the legal professions.
But Legal Tech is more than AI. Not every problem can be solved better with a language model than with traditional digital tools. Depending on the task, research tools, rule-based expert systems, structured case-management systems, or automation may provide the more transparent, reliable, or appropriate solution.
The seminar offers a first overview of key technologies and fields of application in Legal Tech. Topics include AI applications, legal research tools, rule-based systems, as well as tools for case management and the automation of legal workflows.
The seminar is not only about what is technically possible. Especially in the legal field, questions of reliability, transparency, data protection, accountability, and the limitations of automated systems also need to be taken into account.
The aim of the seminar is therefore to develop a constructive and critical perspective on current technological developments. Participants will learn how to assess different Legal Tech tools, understand which tools are suitable for which tasks, and identify when the use of new technology actually provides added value.

First Insights into Legal Tech
