Wie funktioniert das Erinnern? Wie konstituiert sich das Gedächtnis? Wie arbeitet es und was genau verarbeitet es? Welche Rolle spielt dabei die Gesellschaft? Wie gehen unsere individuellen Erinnerungen in das kollektive Gedächtnis über? Wodurch sind die Wandlungen im kollektiven Gedächtnis verursacht? Warum verlieren oder gewinnen Erinnerungen an gesellschaftlicher Bedeutung? Was macht die politische Dimension des Gedächtnisses aus?
Diesen Fragen widmet sich das Seminar. Es wird versucht, den Begriffen "Erinnerung" und "Gedächtnis" interdisziplinär auf den Grund zu gehen.
Im Mittelpunkt steht das Konzept der Erinnerungsorte von Pierre Nora, das sich in Verbindung mit Jan Assmanns Theorie des kulturellen Gedächtnisses zu einem zentralen Ansatz innerhalb des landeskundlich-kulturwissenschaftlichen Bereichs von Deutsch als Fremdsprache entwickelt hat. Im Seminar wird das Konzept erörtert und seine didaktische Relevanz bzw. Einsatzmöglichkeiten im Landeskundeunterricht diskutiert.
