Mit der Philosophie bekommt es die Soziologie, ob sie nun will oder nicht, auf zwei verschiedene Weisen zu tun: Einmal bietet die Philosophie die bis heute anspruchsvollsten Modelle für das, was allgemeine Theorie sein und leisten kann. In dieser Hinsicht könnte sie Vorbild der Soziologie sein. Zum anderen gehört die Philosophie zum Gegenstandsbereich der Soziologie, die unter diesem Aspekt dann auch Wissenssoziologie heißt. Der Kurs wird an ausgewählten Schlüsselstellen der antiken bzw. modernen Ideengeschichte demonstrieren, wie diese beiden Perspektiven ineinandergreifen. Er kann ohne philosophische Vorkenntnisse besucht werden.
