In der Lehrveranstaltung werden wir gemeinsam verschiedene Beobachtungsverfahren üben, die im Rahmen einer ethnographischen Forschung angewandt werden können: Teilnehmende Beobachtung, Offene Beobachtung und Systematische Beobachtung. Studierende werden alleine oder in Kleingruppen Beobachtungsaufgaben unter Anwendung der oben genannten Verfahren erforschen. Dabei wird praktische Anwendung der Verfahren im Mittelpunkt stehen.
Teilnehmende Beobachtung beinhaltet eine längerfristige Teilnahme in einem selbstgewählten Feld, zum Beispiel in einem Verein, einem Nebenjob, einer Spielerunde usw., sowie das Verfassen eines Feldtagebuches.
Offene und Systematische Beobachtung können ohne direkte Teilnahme im öffentlichen Raum durchgeführt werden.

Die Veranstaltung erfordert keine praktische Erfahrung mit Ethnographie. Die Bereitschaft, neue Tätigkeiten (Hobbies, Nebenjobs usw.) im Rahmen der Teilnehmenden Beobachtung kennen zu lernen, ist willkommen.
