Die Veranstaltung führt in grundlegende Fragestellungen, Entstehungsgeschichte, Vorgehensweisen und theoretische Perspektiven der Geschlechterforschung ein. Dabei nimmt sie auf aktuelle Debatten (siehe Titel der Veranstaltung) zum Anlass, um sowohl empirisch vorfindbare Geschlechterverhältnisse wie Theorieangebote, diese zu verstehen und zu untersuchen, vorzustellen und zu diskutieren. Studierende erhalten im Verlauf der Veranstaltung Gelegenheit, inhaltliche Vertiefungsgebiete mit auszuwählen.

Es handelt sich um eine Einführungsveranstaltung für Studierende ohne Vorkenntnisse, jedoch mit inhaltlichem Interesse an Geschlechterfragen und der Bereitschaft, herkömmliche Denkgewohnheiten in Frage zu stellen und sich durch eine Vielzahl von Perspektiven hindurch zu arbeiten.
