The objective is to comprehensively read the book "Statistisches Methodenbuch" by H. Pruscha (in German!). Please order your personal copy before the seminar starts. The following text is from the publisher's website:

"Pi mal Daumen" ist nicht! Hier geht es um exakte Statistik, die immer tiefer in Naturwissenschaften, Technik, Medizin und Ökologie dringt. Datenmengen werden vielschichtiger. Statistiker benötigen deshalb ein ganzes Arsenal an Methoden und Werkzeugen. Ausgehend von Grundbegriffen und elementaren Verfahren beschreibt das Buch sowohl Standards als auch neue Methoden der Analyse, die in Ökologie und Ökonomie an Bedeutung gewinnen. Jedes Verfahren wird durch Anwendungsbeispiele illustriert. Empfohlen sei dieses Buch allen, die mit komplexen Auswertungsproblemen konfrontiert sind und bis zur Feinanalyse ihrer Daten vordringen wollen. Themen: Clusteranalyse, Faktoranalyse, Kategoriale Datenanalyse, Multivariate Analysen, Regression, Varianzanalyse, Zeitreihen.
