This course focuses on Indigenous life writings from the assimilation era to the present, tracing Indigenous self-representation. It aims to introduce students to early texts, boarding school experiences, to contemporary works that capture Indigenous way of thinking, approaches to white culture, transgenerational trauma, and Indigenous identity, challenging their supposedly missing cultural, political, and literary invisibility.
