What does it mean to teach a language as a means of actual communication? Which methods can support students in actually exchanging information and opinions in a meaningful way in the foreign language? In this hihgly interactive and practice-oriented workshop seminar we will learn about, try out and reflect on different approaches to communicative language teaching: ranging from activities to encourage students to communicate and collaborate in the classroom, using drama-pedagogical elements, to task-based learning and possibilities of teaching beyond the classroom and in inclusive learning groups.

To pass this class (Studienleistung) you will present a micro-teaching unit applying one of the methods mentioned above and putting it into writing for a 'method compilation' which will be available to the whole course. If you want to obtain exam credits (Prüfungsleistung) you have to write a paper of 3.000 words on a choice of issues of foreign language teaching.
