Die Veranstaltung ist Teil des literaturgeschichtlichen Basismoduls "Epochen und Epochenumbrüche". Wir werden uns im Seminar der spannenden Umbruchszeit um 1900 widmen. Im Vordergrund stehen dabei literaturgeschichtliche Fragen nach der Veränderung der dramatischen Formensprache vom Naturalismus bis zum Expressionismus. Alle im Titel genannten Autoren gehören unterschiedlichen literarischen Strömungen um 1900 an, arbeiten aber an einem gemeinsamen Projekt: der dramatische Erfassung der Moderne, für die neue Ausdrucksformen und dramatischen Gattungen gesucht und gefunden werden.
Die Stücke, die wir lesen werden, gehören zum Kanon der deutschen Literaturgeschichte, aber wir erlauben uns auch Seitenblicke auf inzwischen weniger bekannte Autoren wie Hasenclever. Die genaue Auswahl der Dramen werden vor Semesterbeginn früh genug über den Moodleraum bekanntgegeben. Werke, die nicht über günstige Ausgaben erhältlich sind, werden als Digitalisate zur Verfügung gestellt.

Der erfolgreiche Abschluss des Fachportals ist dringend angeraten, die "Einführung in die Dramenanalyse" ebenfallls.
