In dem Seminar beschäftigen wir uns mit verschiedenen Schriftstellerinnen und deren Werk und Wirken um 1800 (u.a. Sophie von La Roche, Karoline von Günderrode, Dorothea Schlegel, Bettine von Arnim). Die literarisch und künstlerisch äußerst produktive Zeit um 1800 bildet eine wichtige Schnittstelle zwischen Aufklärung, Klassik und Romantik, in deren Rahmen sich zentrale Parameter und Diskurse verschieben. Autorinnen sind signifikant an diesen Verschiebungen beteiligt und übernehmen wichtige Funktionen, werden jedoch nach wie vor in ihrer Relevanz weniger beachtet als männliche Vertreter. Wir widmen uns im Seminar der Zeit um 1800 mit einem spezifischen Blick auf weibliche Literatur- und Kulturproduktion, lesen und diskutieren die Texte von Autorinnen und werfen davon ausgehend einen kritischen Blick auf die tradierten Epochenbilder um 1800.

Neben regelmäßiger Teilnahme erwarte ich eine eigenständige Vorbereitung der Texte für die jeweiligen Sitzungen. Die Studienleistung wird in Form von aktiver Beteiligung, in der Regel durch die Gestaltung einer Sitzung in Kleingruppen, erbracht.
