Contents, comment

Content

This hands-on English-language workshop helps doctoral candidates develop a professional self-concept and manage their doctorate proactively. In three blocks, participants work through central, often unaddressed questions through guided individual work.

Block 1: Motivation & Framework Conditions
Participants analyze their academic competencies, identify areas for development, and reflect on their personal motivation for pursuing a doctorate as well as the conditions they need to work productively.

Block 2: Supervision Relationship
The focus is on reflecting on attitudes and expectations, developing a professional understanding of roles, and managing the supervision situation constructively. Worksheets support the proactive shaping of the supervision relationship.

Block 3: Peers & Scientific Community
Topics include cooperation and competition, one's own role in the academic community, and forms of peer support such as peer coaching or writing groups.

The goal is to assess one's own doctoral competencies beyond subject-specific expertise. Through reflection and practical materials, participants can prepare themselves effectively for the doctoral process.
