Governance, statehood and citizenship are concepts under intense scrutiny in worlds outside Europe and North America. This research seminar offers various disciplinary approaches to the study of politics & society, and asks whether such concepts can be usefully applied to non-European cases, and to emerging forms of global governance. In addition to external speakers who elaborate issues of statehood and citizenship studies more generally, ongoing research within the research unit ¿Transnationalization and Development¿ and Bielefeld University is presented.
This research seminar aims at BA and MA students in sociology or political science, doctoral students at the Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS), and the members of the Research Centre on Transnationalization and Development.
