230762 Englisch: Multilingualism – Translating Short Literary Texts from German into Various Languages, Level B1 and higher S) (S) (SoSe 2016)

Are you interested in how an innovative Finnish anthology comes to life? How to contact the authors in English or Finnish (and other languages), ask for the publishing rights of the texts as well as for their biographies, and build up the corpus? This practice-oriented project seminar will be ideal for those interested in experiencing English as a language of communication between cultures while improving their English and getting in contact with many other languages (like Finnish, Swedish, Sámi, Turkish etc.).

This multilingual course takes you to the next step of “Invasion Paradies”, a book created by students of this university for the 2014 Frankfurt Book Fair (Guest: Finland), and offers a similar experience and hopes for a similar result in the near future. However you do not need to have been part of the previous project. If things go well, our work should be presented at the 2016 October Book fair in Helsinki.

Highly motivated students with English level B1 and higher as well as students with experience in Finnish (though not required) are mostly welcome!
