In the latter half of the 1960s, British women from different walks of life began to address in different ways their social condition, coming in the process to the recognition that women, due to their position vis à vis men, shared many problems and aspirations which signalled their forming of a social group apart.
This course will chart the evolution of the Women’s Liberation Movement in Britain by tracing both the development of feminist consciousness and the different ways of taking action to improve women’s condition.
The relevant literature will be made available at the start of the semester.
