In their book Language Myths Peter Trudgill and Laurie Bauer (eds.) present a number of language myths which we will look at. These are, for example, that in the "Appalachians they speak like Shakespeare" or that "English Spelling is Kattastroffik" and that "You Shouldn't Say 'It is Me' because 'Me' is Accusative," or that "Everyone Has an Accent Except Me."
Students in this class will give presentations on these myths and demystify them.
