230737 Englisch: English Special Topics: Popular Culture in the US and the UK after 1945, Level C1 (S) (SoSe 2016)

Contents, comment

One of the best ways to fully immerse yourself in a language and get a proper feel for it is to study its literature. This course uses literature from the English speaking world to further student’s language skills. We will read a variety of (mostly short) works in varying styles and see how vocabulary, grammar, word choice, and tone can all be improved by reading literature. Discussion will focus on both the literary and language merits of the works. Students will also be asked to give one short presentation and to write a 5-8 page term paper.
