While addressing diversity and inclusivity issues in academia is high on the priority list, finding practical solutions and implementing them remains challenging. The goal of this seminar series is to increase awareness about equity, diversity and inclusivity (EDI) issues in academia, discuss them in an open and safe environment, and to come up with practical solutions. We will focus on topics that are most relevant for ecological, evolutionary and behavioural biology, although some will be relevant for a wide range of biological fields. The topics covered will be diverse; from mental health to inclusive teaching and from creating safe spaces to decolonising the curriculum. For example, we will discuss how to design inclusive PowerPoint presentations, how mentorship can be made more equitable, and what changes can be made by students and teachers to ensure safe spaces. This seminar series will consist of both lectures combined with interactive discussions.
