BIIGLE (https://biigle.de) ist eine Webanwendung für die manuelle und automatische Annotation von Bilddatensätzen. Sie wird von Wissenschaftlern weltweit vor allem im Bereich der Meereswissenschaften verwendet. In diesem Projekt können die Studierenden in abgeschlossenen Teilprojekten die Weiterentwicklung von BIIGLE unterstützen. Es steht eine Vielfalt von Themengebieten, von Backend-Entwicklung mit PHP, Frontend-Entwicklung mit JavaScript oder Machine Learning Implementierung mit PyTorch zur Auswahl. Dabei können verschiedenste neue Kenntnisse und Fähigkeiten im Bereich der Webentwicklung und anderen Themenfeldern erlangt werden.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
Ein generelles Interesse an dem Bereich der Webanwendungsentwicklung ist erforderlich. Kenntnisse in PHP und/oder JavaScript, sowie der Zugang zu einer Entwicklungsumgebung in Linux oder MacOS sind wünschenswert. Kenntnisse in Bildverarbeitung, Mustererkennung und Machine Learning können außerdem für bestimmte Teilprojekte nützlich sein, sind jedoch keine Voraussetzung.
